Lester “Scott” Taylor, 62, passed away on January 11, 2026, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer and its related complications. He faced his illness with remarkable strength, perseverance, and grace.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Denise Taylor; his daughter, Regan Taylor Cason, and her husband, Gabe, of Valdosta; and his son, Austin Taylor of Birmingham, Alabama. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to John Hughes Cason and Joseph “Hampton” Cason, whom he lovingly referred to as “my boys.”
He is also survived by his father, Lester “Sonny” Taylor of Hahira, Georgia; his in-laws Lee and Ann Pierro of Huntsville, Alabama; his sister, Mitzi Taylor Cain, and her husband, Jason, of Hahira; his brother, Alan Taylor, and his wife, Traci, also of Hahira; his brother-in-law Michael Pierro, and his wife, Angela of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Stalvey Taylor, and brother-in-law, Leon Pierro.
A proud graduate of Lowndes High School, Class of 1982, he was a member of the 1980 State Championship football team and the 1981 State Championship baseball team. He went on to graduate in 1988 from the University of Florida, College of Science in Engineering—an accomplishment he carried with great pride. Throughout his professional life, he successfully built and grew several heating and air conditioning businesses under the AireServ name across the Southeast, earning respect for his work ethic, leadership, and integrity. One of his greatest joys was aviation. Holding a pilot’s license for many years, he treasured the freedom of flying—especially when it meant traveling with his wife to visit family.
He would encourage those he leaves behind to joyfully read and devote themselves to God’s Word, particularly his favorite book of the Bible, Matthew.
Known for his fun-loving spirit, infectious joy, and warm personality, he leaves behind countless memories and laughter that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His life was well lived, his love deeply felt, and his presence unforgettable.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, at 1 p.m. at Hahira First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Gordon officiating. Burial will follow the services at Friendship Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted at Hahira First Baptist Church, 201 N Church St, Hahira, GA 31632. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
