Leroy Thompson, of Lee, Florida, died on January 14, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 3, 1956, Leroy was the son of the late Elmer Harley and Myrtle Belle Chaffin Thompson.

First and foremost, Leroy was a man who was unashamed of his faith in Jesus Christ. Of the Pentecostal faith, he lived as a “preacher without a pulpit,” believing that God’s love, power, and grace were not confined to the four walls of a church, but revealed in everyday conversations, acts of service, and genuine connection with others. His life was a quiet ministry—steady, faithful, and rooted in love.

He spent many years working for Roadway as a mechanic and was a true jack of all trades, never meeting a vehicle he couldn’t fix. Yet his greatest gift was his ability to see people as God saw them. Leroy had a remarkable way of reaching hearts—offering grace, encouragement, and hope— often to those who needed it most. Through kindness, humor, and authenticity, he made people feel seen, valued, and loved, reflecting Christ in a way that left a lasting impression.

Survivors are his son, Brandon Lee Thompson of Lake Park, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Kiley Thompson and Patrick Loveless of Monticello, Florida; grandchildren, Brandon Ray Lee Thompson Jr. and Andrew Levi Thompson of Cleveland, Tennessee; his siblings, Mary Anderson of Lake Park, Eileen (Don) Fahnestock of Jacksonville, Florida, Redgie (Ann) Thompson of Crossville, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Dewey Thompson, Cheryl Dixon, Andrew Thompson, Wanda Thompson Brooks, Lonnie Thompson, and Steven Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park. Reverend Daryl Pate will lead the service with Pastor Joe Bell assisting. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. The family will visit prior to the service from 10-11 am.
