Leon Jack Myers

Leon “Jack” Myers, 82, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Mr. Myers was born September 11, 1940, in Lincolnton, GA. He graduated from Washington High School where he played in the Washington band, under Dick Bissett as the band director. During high school and college, he played with a group for different social functions. He went on to graduate from Georgia Southern University, where he met the love of his life Beverly Joy Wisham of Thomson, Georgia. Jack and Beverly were married on June 6, 1965. After college, he was band director of Valdosta Junior High under Frank Butenschon, and he coached the golf team. Mr. Myers left teaching to open Tower of Music along with Jimmy Sineath and Cambell Giddens. Mr. Myers was the co-founder of M&M Music, Inc. with Sidney Morris. After retiring from the music industry, he became owner, along with his wife and son of Myers Rentals and LJ Myers Family, LLP. He attended Charity Baptist Church and was a member of Valdosta Country Club. Jack and Beverly were avid travelers, they visited all fifty states, and most continents.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Wisham Myers, and son, (Jack) Leon Jackson Myers. Jr (Melissa) of Valdosta, sister Beverly Myers Baker (Roy), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert James Myers and Jessie Mae Goolsby, sister, Lairee Myers Rodgers, and a precious son, Alvie James Myers.

The funeral for Mr. Myers will be held at 4:30 pm Saturday, July 1 , 2023, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Roy K. Baker will officiate the service. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends starting at 3:30 until the service time.
