Leland S. Moore, Jr., 90, of Valdosta died on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born in Naylor, Georgia, on June 4, 1936, Leland was the son of the late L.S. and Leola Dorminey Moore. He grew up in Naylor and graduated as Valedictorian of Naylor High School in 1954. Leland received his bachelor’s in accounting from Valdosta State College. During college he worked at Belchers Drug Store, Cook Carter & Chapman, CPA’s and then he worked at Trotman Construction Company in Gainesville, GA as their Controller. He was among the first to pass the Certified Public Accountant Exam from VSC. In 1967 he started his own accounting practice in Valdosta, Leland S. Moore, Jr., CPA. Leland retired in 2014 after more than 45 years in business. Although dedicated to his work, his focus was primarily on his family and friends. He loved to close the office on a beautiful afternoon to enjoy a round of golf or to go fishing.

A good baseball player in his younger days Leland was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. He helped coach his boys’ baseball teams in little league. An active member of the Civitan Club, he served as an officer and attended international meetings. Other hobbies included his passion for studying genealogy. Leland was a faithful member of Park Avenue Church since 1958.

Survivors are his devoted 45 year friend, Sandra P. Allen of Valdosta and her children Bret, Bebe, and Fran along with their families, a son, Owen Gregory Moore of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Elizabeth Diane Moore Jones (Charles Ray) of Belton, Missouri, daughter, Maria Lynne Moore Willis of Valdosta, son, Herbert Leland Moore also of Valdosta; grandchildren, Heather Michelle Denney, Eden Jones, Leah Jones all of Missouri, Brooke Willis Duke, Brandon Lander Willis, Nicholas David Willis, and Katie Margaret Spell of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Annabelle Denney, Violet Denney, and Aurora Primrose Willis. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, Steven Walters (Diane), Dawn Walters Bass, Tracy Walters Ghirardi (Nicholas), Mary Louise Borduin (Jim), Robert Mayne (Gloria), Cynthia Mayne Soltani (Givi), and Jeannie Wilson.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Holmes Moore, sister, Betty Lorraine Moore Walters, and a brother, William Joyce Moore.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Presbyterian Home and to Affinity Hospice for the devoted care given to Mr. Moore.

Funeral services for Leland S. Moore, Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Jimmy Towson and Reverend Jamie Bone will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Park Avenue Church in memory of Mr. Moore. Carson McLane Funeral
