Laura Cooper Flythe, 87, of Valdosta went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Mrs. Flythe was born on August 30, 1938 in Brooks County to the late James Ellis and Mabel West Cooper. Mrs. Flythe was married to the love of her life, Charles Franklin Flythe for 68 years. She was a loving Christian wife, mother, Grandmom, Lala, sister and friend to many. She loved spending time with her family, studying the Bible, reading, keeping up with friends and especially loving on her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Flythe was very curious about others and had a true wit about her until the very end of her life. She always loved a good story.
Mrs. Flythe graduated from Morven High School in 1956 as an Honor graduate and Perry Business School in Valdosta, GA. She then worked at the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department as an Office Deputy and First Baptist Church of Valdosta, GA as the church secretary. Mrs. Flythe was the co-owner of Flythe Angus Farm and Flythe Outdoor Advertising along with her husband. She was active in all phases of her children’s school activities.
Mrs. Flythe was a member of First Baptist Church since 1959, where she taught Sunday School and Bible study classes for forty years. Mrs. Flythe taught a Young Adult Sunday School Class for many years and was assisted by her husband. Through her teaching, she influenced many young families of Valdosta and served on numerous committees in order to support her church. She also served as President of the Baptist Women’s Organization at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Jack Johnson, Diann and Bob Branch and son-in-law, Kerry Lineberger, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Sabrina and Dale Brantley, Lucienne Brantley, Tully Lineberger, Luke and Samantha Lineberger, Sam Lineberger, Sutton Lineberger, Tal and Rachel Lineberger, Hunter Lineberger, Ben Lineberger, Amber and Luke Martin, Emerson Martin, Elijah Martin, Micah and Chris Kenney, Jordan and Tyler Cain, brother and sisters-in-law/brother-in-law Edna Cooper, Wayne and Gayle Cooper, Billy Folsom, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Greg and Martha Flythe. She was preceded in death by her endearing husband Charles Franklin Flythe, precious daughter, Angela Lineberger, grandson, Zachary Lineberger, brothers/sisters-in-law and sisters/brothers-in-law, Catherine and Carlton Adams, Bernard Cooper, Charles Cooper, Lenelle and Julian Shierling, Carol Folsom, George and Mable Flythe, James and Edith Flythe, JC and Anna Flythe, Edwin Flythe, Margaret and DW Whaley, Marion and Henry Mueller, Dorothy and Gus Johnson, and Louie and Betty Flythe.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta, GA with Dr. Chuck Owens, Rev. Dennis Massie and Rev. J. Michael Dennis officiating. A eulogy will be given by Sabrina Brantley and pall bearers will be Tully Lineberger, Tal Lineberger, Ben Lineberger, Hunter Lineberger, Luke Lineberger, Tyler Cain and Luke Martin. Interment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
