Larry Lambert Kelly was born on June 29, 1956 and passed on March 30, 2024 during Easter week on Holy Saturday. Larry was the kindest, most generous person you could ever know. He loved people and he loved life. He was fond of saying, “The only thing I have ever cared about in this world is family and friends.” He meant it and lived his life this way.
He was extremely loyal and cherished his high school friends whom he stayed in touch with throughout his life. He would often relive memories of their times together with fun, spirited stories. He made new friends in Valdosta and would often bring them thoughtful, caring gifts while sharing time together.
Larry was funny, sweet and very, very intelligent. Everyone who had the good fortune to meet Larry would hear one of his many heart-felt stories while learning something new and interesting about the world we live in.
Larry loved his family and continued to miss his father who was his hero. Larry was completely devoted to his mother whom he admired and respected above all others. He loved her with all his heart. Larry’s sisters Rhonda and Michele were very dear to him and Michele was his “Mimi” who he shared road-trips with, long conversations and good films. He would often tease his sisters while they would give him advice that he may not have always wanted to hear. He loved his nephews and was very proud of the men they have become. Above all else, he knew he was loved by his family and many friends and by his savior.
He is survived by his mother, Myrtle Lambert Kelly, his sisters Rhonda Lambert Hamman and Dr. Michele Kelly, his brother-in-law, Dr. John Shue Hamman, his nephews, John Edwin Hamman, James Albert Hamman and Joseph Kelly Hamman and their wives and children as well as his many cousins, especially Paul Melita and Nancy Furey. Larry was proceeded in death by his father, Colonel Edwin E. Kelly, Grandparents, Ernest Edgar Kelly, Winnie Vera Kelly, Albert Marvin Lambert and Emma Cynthia Lambert, His uncles, Emory Kelly and Randall Kelly and his aunt Myra Prewitte.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dennis Massie officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com
We will never stop loving Larry and we will never stop missing him. We will trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to help carry us forward throughout our days to see and enjoy the beauty in this world that Larry saw.
Amen.
