Larry Frederick Roberts

Larry Frederick Roberts, 78, of Lake Park, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. He was born on December 2, 1944 in Valdosta, to the late Willie Fred and Vivian Bernice Bray Roberts. He grew up in Echols County, and graduated from Echols County High School in 1963. Larry attended trade school where he got the basics for his career of welding and maintenance of machinery in Nashville, TN. He worked for Oxy for nearly 3 decades as a millwright, and more recently as a certified crane operator. He also helped many loggers and others to repair and maintain equipment. He found humor in everything and loved telling the stories of his father and other lifetime events. Larry loved mechanical projects, acquiring and working on vehicles was a favorite pastime of his.

Larry is survived by his daughter Becky (Darrell) Stone, of Lake Park, GA; daughter, Cherie (Dean) Vinson, of Lake Park; daughter-in-law, Lisa Roberts, of Tennessee; son, Carson Shane Roberts, of Valdosta; sister, Charlotte Crist, of Virginia; sister Evelyn (Dave) Howell, of Statenville; sister, Judy Walls, of Texas; brother, Bill (Jean) Roberts, of Lake Park; brother, Frank (Suzanne) Roberts, of Valdosta; special friend, Lisa Brooks Toliver, of Lake Park; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Larry F. Roberts, Jr., and brother Royce R. Roberts.

A graveside service will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, in Mayday, GA, with Brother Wayne Boykin officiating.
