Kenneth “Ken” Eugene Lindsey, born on April 20, 1945, in Gatesville, Texas, to Robert and Nellie Mae Lindsey, passed away July 17, 2026, surrounded by family.

Ken graduated from Hahira High School in Hahira, Georgia. After working as a driver for an oil company, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army in September 1965. On December 24, 1965, he married the love of his life, Gail Turner Lindsey, beginning a beautiful marriage that would span 60 years. During his military service, Ken was deployed to Thailand for one year before returning to the United States, where he was stationed in Leesburg, Virginia, and began married life with Gail.

In 1980, Ken and Gail made their home in Perry, Georgia, where they lived for the next 45 years and raised two sons, Mathew Steven and Christopher Daniel. He faithfully served his church family at First Baptist Church Perry, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir for many years. Ken also dedicated 22 years of service to Fort Valley State University before retiring.

A man of deep faith, Ken loved the Lord and cherished his family above all else. He found joy in gardening and completed the Master Gardener course and took great pride in cultivating both his garden and the lives of those around him. He also loved to travel, creating lasting memories through family adventures.

Ken will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, gentle spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. He was deeply loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather (Pop Pop), great-grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nellie Mae Lindsey; his son, Mathew Steven Lindsey; his granddaughter, Sarah Beth; his brothers, Wayne, Owen, and Mathew Lindsey; and his sister, Marie.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Gail Turner Lindsey; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Vicki Lindsey; his grandchildren, Thomas, Alex, Josh, Reagan, Reid, and Nolan; his great-grandson, Ellis; his sister, Betty; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Ken’s unwavering faith, steadfast love for his family, and servant's heart leave a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00AM at Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira, GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00AM-11:00AM at Martin McLane Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery.
