Keith Douglas Blythe, 79, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at Haven Hospice House in Lake City, Florida, following a period of declining health. Mr. Blythe was born October 5, 1944, in Coral Gables, FL, to the late Douglas D. and Dorothy Delmage Blythe. He was a former schoolteacher in the Lowndes County School system; an active member of Providence Community Church and the Brooks County Gideons.
Upon leaving teaching, Mr. Blythe started the automotive company Torque Technologies which designed and produced performance exhaust systems for muscle cars that developed from his love of drag racing his 1972 Buick GS 455 Stage 1. After many successful years with Torque Technologies and keeping with his entrepreneurial enthusiasm he started Mr. Mowing Man Lawn Service to go along with his love of gardening and yardwork.
Mr. Blythe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellen Minton Blythe of Valdosta; one son Stephen Blythe of Valdosta; sister Kerry Bell of Mebane, NC; two nieces Shannon Taylor (Mike)Mebane, NC; Gayla Burks (Tom) of Acworth, GA; sister-in-law Venice Taw of Valdosta; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
Memorial services for Mr. Blythe will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Providence Community Church with the Rev. Rodney Tenery officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Providence Community Church 223 Sunset Road, Valdosta, GA 31602, or Brooks County Gideons P.O. Box 5205, Quitman, GA 31643.
