In Loving Memory of Kathleen May Parmelee

Kathleen May Parmelee, formerly Franchio, affectionately known as "Mamaw" and "Kathy," was born on April 30, 1935, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, to John and Mae Franchio. She lived a full 91 years before passing away on November 5, 2026.

Kathleen was married to the love of her life, William L. Parmelee Jr., until his passing in 2013. During William's service in the United States Air Force, their family had the opportunity to live in several places, including Panama City, New York, and Japan. In the 1970s, they eventually made Valdosta, Georgia, their home, where Kathleen built a life filled with family, friendships, and many cherished memories.

Kathleen spent part of her working years at W.G. Nunn Elementary School as a lunchroom cashier before beginning a 25-year career at Belk, where she worked until her retirement. She made many friendships along the way and was especially remembered by her Belk coworkers for the delicious lasagna she lovingly prepared and shared.

A woman of many talents and interests, Kathleen enjoyed sewing and lovingly made clothes for her children when they were young. She also had a special gift for baking and took great pleasure in preparing homemade treats, especially during the holidays. Coming from a full Italian family, food and family traditions were an important part of her life.

Kathleen truly loved the holidays and never did anything halfway when it came to decorating. She enjoyed transforming both the inside of her home and her yard with festive decorations, making each season and celebration extra special. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail brought joy to those around her.

She also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, whom she spoiled and treated just like children. Above all, Kathleen treasured her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every opportunity to play with them, spend time together, and watch them enjoy the activities and things they loved. Whether making memories through everyday moments or celebrating special occasions, the time she spent with them brought her tremendous happiness. The love she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever remain a treasured part of their lives.

Those left to cherish her memory include:

Her son, William (Bill) Parmelee III (Katherine Califf); his children, Brooke Alexander, her husband Timmy and their son Mack; and William (Bo) Parmelee IV.

Her daughter, Vicky Sewell, and her husband, Harry, and their son, Dusty.

Her daughter, Denise Brogdon, and her husband, Bobby; their daughter, Jamie Romero, and her husband, Ralph, and Jamie's children, Eliana and Olina; and their son, Nicholas Brogdon, and his wife, Deena, and their children, Lily Kate and Everly.

Her brother, Jimmy Franchio, and his wife, Linda.

Her sister, Virginia Lamanteer, and her husband, Anthony.

A graveside service for Kathleen will be held at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 7th, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
