Kathleen Macy Pittman Hutchinson, 89 of Valdosta died Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Valdosta on August 26, 1935, to the late Deso & Macy Beverly Pittman. Growing up in Valdosta, she graduated from Valdosta High School in the early 1950’s. Early on she worked at Kress’s Five & Dime in downtown Valdosta, also with Southern Bell, Smith Chiropractic and Hutchinson Chiropractic. Her favorite pastimes were going to yard sales, playing Hand & Foot, and being at Lowndes High Viking Football games on a Friday night. Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her church family.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Gary and Kathy Hutchinson of Valdosta, Gaye and Ricky Lightsey of Lake Park, Don and Dana Hutchinson of Valdosta; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean and Terry Griffin of Yulee, FL, Wanda Carter of Evans, GA and Lovie Pittman of Valdosta; her grandchildren and their spouses, Kristen & Ivy Dees, Kelly & Joel Pittsley, Justin & Kim Lightsey, Lance & Heather Lightsey, Logan Hutchinson, Landon & Katherine Hutchinson. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. “Papa Jack” Hutchinson, her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Ann & Harry Boyette, two brothers, Donald Pittman and Lamar Pittman and a brother-in-law, Henry Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Ray Joyner, Mr. Bill Ward and Mr. Wes Hazel officiating. Entombment will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 12:30 until service time.
