Judson H. Rackley, a beloved husband, father, and respected accountant, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and friendship.
Born in Grady County, Judson spent his early years exploring the woods, working in tobacco fields, and attending Reno Baptist Church. A proud graduate of Whigham High School, he moved in 1964 to Valdosta to pursue higher education at Valdosta State College, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting. It was here that Jud found both his town and his lifelong profession.
While still in college, Jud began his career with David Brandon, CPA. Their partnership grew into Brandon, Rackley, and Dukes, CPA, where Jud served as a partner for over 50 years. His commitment to his work was matched by his warm relationships with clients, many of whom became lifelong friends.
In 1971, Jud married Bonnie Daniell of Thomaston, Georgia. Together they raised two sons, Dan and Bryan. They attended Park Avenue Methodist Church. Jud was deeply involved in church life, serving as treasurer, usher, and as President of the Chapel Bible Class.
Jud was also an active leader in the Valdosta Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, where he served as chairman and was honored with the A. L. Girardin Outstanding Member Award. Beyond his professional and community contributions, Jud enjoyed gardening, cooking for friends, and woodworking alongside his close friend Bryan Almand.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie; sons & daughters-in-law Dan & Jen Rackley and Bryan & Jada West Rackley; grandchildren, Rae Rackley, Ruth Rackley, Evie Rackley, and Gus Rackley; sister & brother-in-law Lynelle & Phil Eddins; sister, Patricia Mitchell; sister & brother-in-law Jenny & Terry Turner; brother & sister-in-law, Andy & Cathy Rackley; sister-in-law, Cornelia Rackley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jud was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Ruby Hall Rackley, and his brother Royce Rackley.
