Juanita Mae Daugharty, 87, of Howell, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her residence after a long illness. A life-long resident of this area she was born on February 24, 1936 to the late Tom J. Moore, Sr. and Geneva Moore. After attending Echols County High School, she helped her parents farm and sell vegetables at the Farmer’s Market. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed planting vegetable and flower gardens, caring for her many adopted pets, riding around with her husband, and cooking and caring for her many family members and friends. She was known by many for canning and freezing vegetables and giving them away to many in need and cooking her favorites for church dinners. She married her true love, Ralph S. Daugharty on April 17, 1954. Shortly after their marriage, each of them drove a tractor and worked side by side to grow their crops. They never forgot to give thanks to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As they raised their children, they became members together at Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church in Echols County.
Mrs. Daugharty is survived by a daughter, Sandra Daugharty, of Howell, and a son, Danny Daugharty, of Howell; her grandchildren, Ryan (Elizabeth) Ladrow, and Mallory Ladrow and her fiancé Matt Crismon; her great grandchildren, Hunter and Brooke Ladrow, all of Yulee, FL; sister, Reida (Robert) Johnson and brother, Terry (Frances Moore), a special first cousin, Delta Pearl Smith and brother-in-law, Grover Cox and sister-in-law, Janice Daugharty; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph S. Daugharty, daughter, Karen Diane Daugharty, her parents, Tom J. Moore, Sr., and Geneva Moore, and five siblings, Bobbie June, Eva, Ann Dell, Hellen and Thomas.
