December 29, 1928 — June 8, 2023

Joy Beth Weeks, 94, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Langdale Hospice House. Born in Hahira to the late Colonel Joe Hall and Madlyn Fiveash Hall, she has lived most of her life in this area. Growing up in Hahira, Joy Beth graduated from Hahira High School in the mid 1940’s. After Beauty School, she went to work at Vashti’s Beauty Store and worked for several years before opening her own beauty shop in Mayday, GA. She married her first husband, Walt Wright in 1947 and they were married for 20 years prior to his death in 1967. Then in 1971, Joy Beth married Bill Weeks, and they were married for 34 years prior to his death in 2005. In 1972, the Weeks moved to Jacksonville for Bill to continue to work on the Railroad. After retirement, they moved back to Valdosta in 1986. Joy Beth was a supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for over 65 years, having lost a daughter to the disease while in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Mayday, GA.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Linda Beth & Jerry Carter of Echols County; two grandsons, Walt Carter (& Payton Powell) and Matthew Carter (& Susan Lee) all of Echols County; a great granddaughter, Lakyn Elizabeth Carter of Valdosta. Also surviving is her sister, Jan Sumner of Valdosta; a brother Randy Hall of Hahira and two sisters in law, Blanche Hall and Dot Hall. She is preceded in death by two husbands, her daughter Jennifer Lynn Wright, a sister Dorothy Meeks and two brothers, Ralph Hall and Terry Hall.

The funeral for Joy Beth will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Drew DeLoach will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wayfare Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday before the service from 10 am until service time.
