Joseph Edward Vallotton, III, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born in Valdosta on January 10, 1975, to Mala Young Vallotton the late Joseph E. Vallotton. He grew up in Valdosta and graduated from Valwood School in 1993. There he played football and basketball and was chosen for the All-State teams. He played tennis and in his senior year ranked 2nd in the state. Joe participated in one act plays at Valwood School and won best supporting actor. After high school he attended college at Kenyon College in Gambier, OH and achieved a BA in literature in 1997. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. After graduation he worked briefly in New York City in real estate, but soon returned to Valdosta and started teaching at Valwood School. He taught middle school English and coached middle school football and basketball for several years. Joe then attended and graduated from Florida State University with his MBA in 2002. He then began working for the family business of Vallorbe Inc. in Valdosta. He continued to work in real estate after the family business closed. He was involved with the United Way in Valdosta. Most recently he moved to Tucson, AZ, and worked at a Horse Therapy Ranch assisting youth and veterans. Joe was known by family and friends to have been a caring person with a heart of gold.
He loved to travel, enjoyed sampling local fare, and cooking up a gourmet meal for family. He was a devoted father, coaching his son’s soccer teams. He loved the family annual quail hunts, Forced Family Fun at Amelia Island, and as everyone knows, Joe was an avid sports fan.
Joe is survived by his mother, Mala Vallotton, of Valdosta, his son, Luke Vallotton, and daughter, Poppy Vallotton, both of Valdosta; his brother and sister-in-law Rouse II, and Lynn Vallotton, of Valdosta; and brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Maggie Vallotton, of Valdosta; and his nephews and niece, Rouse Vallotton, III, Smith Vallotton, and Warner Vallotton. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Vallotton, and nephew, Tarpley Vallotton.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 3:30pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends from 2pm until service time.
