Joseph Alston “Joe” Johnson, Jr., of Atlanta, died last week in the Veteran’s Hospital in Atlanta. He was born in Valdosta to the late Alston Johnson, Sr. and Rose Rycroft Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a disabled navy veteran.
He is survived by one son and daughter in law, George and Lisa Atkinson of McDonough, GA, one daughter and son in law, Meta and Dan Merrett of Smyrna, GA, two grandchildren, Taylor and Halie Atkinson and one brother and sister in law, Warren and Ann Johnson of Live Oak, FL.
Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Reverend Dennis Resor officiating. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com Carson McLane Funeral Home.
