Jon Christian (Chris) Bahnsen, 66, of Valdosta, Ga., passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle against ALS. He was born on November 22, 1957, in Columbus, GA to the late General John Charles Bahnsen and Patricia Fitzgerald Bahnsen. Chris graduated from North Georgia College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. It was there that he met his wife of 42 years, Wendy Derrick Bahnsen. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Captain. After his service in the military, he began an almost 40-year career in medical sales from which he retired. He was a member of Park Avenue Church in Valdosta.

Chris is survived by his wife, Wendy Bahnsen of Valdosta; his daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Chris Duncan of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Emily Bahnsen of Athens; son, Jon Bradley Bahnsen of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; and grandson, John Wilson Duncan. Additionally, Chris is survived by his sister, Leeanne Bahnsen and brother, Jimmy Bahnsen, both of Rochelle; and his stepmother, Peggy Bahnsen of New Cumberland, WV. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and brother, Bradley Bahnsen.

A memorial service for Chris will be held at Park Avenue Church on Sunday, July 14 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Jamie Bone and Terry Hiers officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Park Place by McLane.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hop on a Cure or Park Avenue Church.
