John Richard Goddard, Sr.

John Richard Goddard, Sr., 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 10, 2017, in Beaumont, Texas.
Born in Amory, Mississippi, on February 13, 1936, he was the son of Robert Allen Goddard and Lottie Lucille (Roberts) Goddard. John was a veteran of the United States Army. He began his career with Owens-Illinois in Valdosta, Georgia and then transferred to the mill in Orange, Texas. He retired in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly Sue Goddard; and brother, Robert Allen Goddard, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Goddard of Orange, TX; children, Carolyn Joyce Fontenot and husband, Larry, John R. Goddard, Jr. and wife, Sharon, all of Orange, TX; grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Fontenot, Kimberly Nicole Goddard, and John Richard Goddard, III all of Orange, TX.; sister, Carolyn June Kent and husband, James Edward, of Valdosta; sister in law, Gelana Goddard of Valdosta; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 4:00 o'clock in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) National Office, 225 N.
