Joel Wayne Willis, Sr.

Joel Wayne Willis, Sr., 70, of Lake Park died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Lowndes County on January 16, 1944 to the late J. W. Willis and Catherine Bonner Willis. Mr. Willis was a truck driver for the past 48 years, served in the United States Army and was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Willis of Lake Park, his son, Joel W. Willis, Jr. and fiancé, Holly M. Smith of Valdosta, his grandson, Jordanlyn Willis (his buddy) of Lake Park, his loving K-9 friend, Bogie, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Willis is preceded in death by his parents, J. W. and Catherine Willis and his sister, Helen Horne.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 18, 2014 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Henry Cannington officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery.
