Jo Karon Cox

Jo Karon Cox, 57, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her residence. Born in Vienna, GA to Karleen and the late Joe Bryant Lane. Jo Karon graduated from Lowndes High School in 1970, and was the Valedictorian of her class. She went on to graduate from Valdosta Technical College with a Radiology Technology Degree and then worked as a Radiology Technologist at South Georgia Medical Center and Radiology Associates of Valdosta, she also taught radiology as a clinical instructor with Valdosta Technical College. Jo Karon was a charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church, and faithfully served there in the Women's Missionary Union, the Hi Ho Group and as a member and soloist in the Celebration Choir. She was a devoted Mother, Wife and grandmother (MiMi). Jo Karon loved her Lord, her flowers and her pets.
Jo Karon is survived by her husband, Gary Cox of Valdosta; a daughter and son in law, Heather & Chris Butler and a son and daughter in law, Erik & Stacy Cox, all of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Ethan Fletcher Cox, Halle May Cox, Ella Grace Butler and Emma Butler, all of Valdosta; her mother Karleen Lane and her sister, Warena Youmans, both of Chula. She is also survived by her father in law and mother in law, Ed & Betty Cox of Valdosta; brothers in law and sisters in law, Pat & Gregg Ray, and Jeff & Bebe Cox, all of Nashville, and Mark & Cel Cox of San Antonio, TX; an aunt, Jimmie Kelley of Chula and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Bryant Lane, her grandparents, Dora Mae Fletcher and Warren Fletcher and Joe & Maxie Lane and an aunt, Alejo Moore.
Funeral services for Jo Karon will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Ken Alford will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
