Jim Colwell, Jr., 57 of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at his residence. A lifelong resident of this area, he was born in Valdosta on April 16, 1969. Jim attended Valdosta High School and over the years has worked various jobs, but his lifelong love was youth sports. His passion for sports began when he played on sports teams his father coached and continued through the years. Jim volunteered for countless hours to help kids play at the Boys & Girls Club of Valdosta. He was also an animal lover, taking care of his three dogs and spending time outside hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Sculley of Valdosta; his father, Jimmy Colwell, Sr. and his wife Maria, of Valdosta; three children, Haliegh Howland of Florida, Jacey Colwell and Dallas Colwell, both of Adel; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two aunts, Dixie Mitchell of Macon and Jo Ann Colwell of Atlanta; a special “aunt” Linda Dasher; step siblings Miguel Tovar, Tommy North, Brandon North, Angie Hutchinson and Tanya Tovar; and several other cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Penny & Eddie Moxley and James & Ruby Colwell.

A memorial service will be held for Jim at 4 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Minister Mike Johnson will officiate.
