Jessie “Pearl” Atkison, 82, of Lake Park, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Valdosta, on December 3, 1942 to the late Harvey M. Hardee and Jessie Crews Hardee. Mrs. Atkison worked as a schoolteacher and school administrator with her husband at Victory Baptist School for 20 years. She was a caregiver, a great cook, and especially known for her spaghetti. Mrs. Atkison worked in the kitchen at “Camp Meetings” for many years and was an avid card player. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and her church family at Victory Baptist Church.
Mrs. Atkison is survived by her son Jeff Atkison (Roxie), of Lake Park, Roger Atkison (Kim), of Landrum, SC; her grandchildren, Jeffery (Missie) Atkison, Lake Park, L.A. Atkison (Tori), of Nashville, GA. Jake Atkison (Jessica), of Lakeland, GA, Heath Atkison, of Lake Park; great grandchildren McGarrett Atkison and Maverick Atkison; brother Edwin Hardee; and uncle Ferman Hardee. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Arlen Atkison, her son Michael Atkison, and brothers, Julian Hardee, and Alton Hardee.
A funeral service for Mrs. Atkison will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Victory Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will visit prior to the service from 12-1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Baptist Church or School. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
