Jerry Norman

August 10, 1941 — January 5, 2021

Jerry Norman, a retired medical equipment salesman, avid Valdosta High School football fan, husband, father, grandfather, and recently, great grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 5, 2021, surrounded by 4 generations of love. He was 79 years old.
Pro, as he was known in most circles, was the son of Joseph and Ruth Norman, and was the youngest of 9 children. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ralph Norman, Jack Norman, Julian Norman, Jimmie Norman, Vivian Colson, Mable Meeks, and Sarah McDonald. He is survived by his brother Charles and his wife Patricia. He said his final goodbye to his loving wife, Mary Laura, his children, Lori and her husband Lee, Bo and his wife Ashley; his grandchildren, Allyson, Brittany, Christopher, Brayden, Grady, and Rhys; and his great grandson Aaron. He was close to his nieces and nephews, and their children.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of Valdosta, GA. Born August 10, 1941. He graduated from Valdosta High School in 1959 and attended Valdosta State College on a baseball scholarship and earned 2 degrees (Business and Accounting). He served in the United States Air Force as a maintenance officer in Omaha, Nebraska during Vietnam.
Jerry was a devoted husband and father. It was always evident that God and family were the core of his being. He was an active deacon at First Baptist Church for many years before he got ill. He went on numerous missionary Adventures with Mary Laura and the missionary group from the church.
He loved his Valdosta Football, having served as President of the Touchdown Club and as an active board member, Fishing, Atlanta Braves, and golf.
He knew beyond any doubt that his purpose in life was to win people to Christ. He never met a stranger, and never left a conversation with a frown.
