On February 23, 2024, the world lost some serious humor, generous kindness and love when Jeffrey Rudolph Zeigler passed with his beloved wife Jennifer (Berger) Zeigler and his mother, Nancy Zeigler, by his side.
Jeffrey was born October 16, 1966, to Gary and Nancy Zeigler in Rome, Georgia and shortly thereafter moved to Valdosta. A proud southerner and the eldest of three boys, he spent his childhood outside learning about nature through The Boy Scouts, Indian Guides and the School of Hard Knocks. He graduated from Valdosta High School and loved being here so much he completed his BA in 1992 from Valdosta State University. He worked hard at his father’s firm, Gary R. Zeigler, P.C. as an accountant and proudly passed his exams to become a Certified Public Accountant. His clients became friends and his commitment to his work never wavered.
After convincing the world he was a lifetime bachelor, Jeffrey met his match in Jennifer. The two married September 23, 2021, and had the honeymoon of a lifetime in Jamacia. He couldn’t imagine living anywhere else and they gladly made their life together in Valdosta. Jeffrey’s heart was big enough to love many, and the incomparable Roo, their hilarious dog, is tops on that list -- behind family, of course. Roo always sang to Jeffrey and was overexcited every time Jeffrey came home.
Jeffrey was always good for a joke, a kind word, or an in depth discussion about guns, hunting, the great outdoors, history or his family. One never knew what story he would tell about any of those topics, but it was always a great time. He will be dearly missed by so many and will live on in the endless stories we each share about our times with him.
Jeffrey was predeceased by his namesake grandfather Joseph Rudolph Zeigler, grandmother Ernesteen Cantrell Zeigler, grandparents James Franklin Flippo and Bonnie Crawford Flippo, and Uncle Rodney Zeigler.
He is survived by wife Jennifer (Berger) Zeigler, parents Gary and Nancy (Flippo) Zeigler, brother Derrick and his wife Galina, and brother Gerard and his wife Nikki. Jeffrey would string us up if we didn’t give extra emphasis on his nephew and nieces -- his pride for Jacob, Sydney and Isabella was otherwise unmatched. Other family includes uncle James Michael Flippo (Debbie) and cousins Heath Zeigler, Liska Hamm (Brent), Sabrina Flippo Mann (Eric), and stepdaughter Shanna Sirovina, her husband Greg and daughters Willow and Mila.
Jeffrey’s family invites all who knew him to services on February 29, 2024, at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. The service begins at 11 a.m. with interment at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens to follow. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
