Janet “J.D.” McCord, 61, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on February 25, 1963, in West Point, NY, to the late Dominick DeCarlo and Mary Ann Webb DeCarlo, Janet cherished family and friends, indulging in her passion for the Atlanta Braves and creating joyful memories by the beach and through antiquing. Her experiences in Okinawa, Japan, held a special place in her heart, and her cats were adored as her own children.
Survived by her husband Ray McCord of Valdosta, Janet leaves behind two step-children, grandchildren Erin, Danica, Gracy, Liam, John, Korben, and Leilani, brothers Don DeCarlo (Terri) of Quitman, GA, Alan DeCarlo (Cindy) of Valdosta, Jimmy DeCarlo (Joy) of Rockford, IL, along with sisters Nancy Vollbeer (Fred) of Dahlonega, GA, and Linda DeCarlo of Valdosta. Her memory lives on through six nephews, six nieces, a great nephew, and five great nieces.
Funeral services in celebration of her life will take place at 2 pm on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Carson McLane Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Mac Weaver, followed by burial at Cat Creek Cemetery. Prior to the service, a time for remembrance will be held from 1-2 pm. Share condolences at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
