Janet Hiers Blalock, 71, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Savannah, GA, on August 28, 1952 to the late Phillip Edgar Hiers and Mary Ellen Hinely Hiers. She graduated from Valdosta High School and attended Valdosta State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was a Pre-K teacher at Pine Grove Elementary and a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Janet is survived by her daughter and son in law Mary Carol Blalock Perry and Jason Perry of Gulf Breeze, FL; her son and daughter in law Wayland (Buck) Hendry Blalock, Jr. and Lauren Stadnik Blalock of Hahira, GA; her grandsons Bo Perry and Dillon Perry; a sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Freddy Killgore of Valdosta, GA; a brother and sister-in-law David and Julie Hiers, of Valdosta, GA; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Orson Woodall of Valdosta, GA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wren and Mary Blalock, of Savannah, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayland (Bo) Hendry Blalock and parents Phillip Edgar Hiers and Mary Ellen Hinely Hiers.
