James Melton Tootle, 74 of Valdosta, formerly of Glennville, GA died on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on June 25, 1930 in Glennville, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Devonda Strickland Tootle. Mr. Tootle was a retired supervisor for the Georgia Department of Labor and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, The American Legion and a graduate of Georgia Southern University.
Survivors are his wife, Martha Tootle of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Frank Bird III of Jennings, FL; grandchildren, Frank Bird IV, Martha Helen Bird, James Rutledge Bird; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Patricia Tootle of Cairo, GA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 11, 2004 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Douglas Reddick and Reverend Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
