James Homer Tyre

James Homer “Jimmy” Tyre, Jr., 82, born August 6, 1923 in Hamilton County, Florida and resided in Lake City, Florida since 1999, went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2006. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II, serving with the 4th Marine Division in the South Pacific. He then moved to Valdosta, Georgia and worked with Owens Illinois for thirty years. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Lake City, Florida and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge # 11 in Madison Florida for over fifty years.

Mr. Tyre was preceded in death by his mother, father and one brother and a daughter, Pamela Kay Tyre Murajda. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Lois Sowers Tyre of Lake City, FL, a daughter and son in law, Teresa and Mark Schultz of Lake Park, GA, a son, James Homer Tyre, III of Parkersburg, West Virginia, four sisters, Mildred McMullen, Elizabeth Miller and Inez Legget of Brunswick, GA and Gladys Bruce of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Christy Sims Rucker of Cayce, South Carolina, James Homer Tyre IV of Greenville, North Carolina, Tyre Barham Schultz of Valdosta, Georgia, Ivy Tyre Brooks of Phenix City, Alabama and Jonathan Marcus Schultz of Lake Park, Georgia, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family for visitation Friday, April 21, 2006 from six until eight p. m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Harris and Reverend Jerry Tyre officiating.
