James Bishop “Jimmy” Davis, Jr., 89, of Hahira, was born on April 26,1937 to James Bishop Davis Sr. and Florida Pine Langford Davis, He was raised and lived most of his life in Madison, FL, and attended Florida State University. He married Martha Owen, daughter of James C. and Pauline Nunn Owen, and together they raised three children Jay, Lynne, and Hank. He and Martha were blessed with 50 years together before she passed in 2007. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jay on May 12, 2026. Jimmy dedicated himself to family and to his business, Jimmy Davis Enterprises, which operated gas stations, truck stops, restaurants and other enterprises. He built a legacy that all three children as well as son in law Bill Saunders, carried on with pride. His commitment to hard work and family was evident in those who worked alongside him, and the business became a true family endeavor across generations.
Jimmy was well known for his generosity, both financial, with family friends and even those he didn’t know, but also with his time, attending sporting events for grandchildren and going on trips. He was always telling and playing jokes on those close to him and never let anyone leave without saying “I love you”. He was always ready to watch a college football game, whether Florida State or the Georgia Bulldogs. Jimmy was most in his element when he was outside, with family hunting, fishing and boating or spending time at the beach or in the mountains. His smiles and laughter will be deeply missed.
