James Benny (Benjie) Kent, Jr., 38, of Valdosta died Monday, August 17, 2009. He was born in Lowndes County on March 14, 1971 and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Kent was a member of Northside Baptist Church and had been employed at Park Avenue Bank for the past eleven years. He enjoyed spending time with his children, family and was a sport enthusiast. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Kent, his children, Brooklyn Kent and Andrew Kent all of Valdosta, his parents, Jim and Susan Kent of Hahira, sister and brother in law, Suzanne and Richard Hogan of Ridgeway, WI., his mother in law, Shirley Drew of Ray City, brothers in law and sisters in law, Brad and Carol Drew of Ray City, Remer and Amy Drew of Valdosta, Penny Cook of Birmingham, Ala., numerous nieces, nephews, aunts uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leland, Sr. and Alene Kent and James A. and Mary Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Willis and Dr. Ronny Spillers officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
