J. T. Southall

February 19, 1938 — June 21, 2007

J. T. “Brother” Southall, Jr. of Valdosta, died on Thursday, June 21, 2007, at his home after a lengthy illness. Son of the late J.T. Sr, and Mary Willis Southall he was born in Lowndes County on February 19, 1938. Mr. Southall was a farmer.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn M. Southall of Valdosta, a daughter, Pam Southall of Hahira, sons and daughter in law, Thomas Southall of Valdosta, William and Tippy Southall of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Clara Cowart, Gene Cowart, Jonathan Southall, Theresa Southall all of Hahira; sisters, Barbara Southall and Elizabeth Nichols of Valdosta, step daughter and step son in law, Carla and Craig Craven of Valdosta, step son and step daughter in law, D. C. and Sharen Watkins of Valdosta, step grandchildren, Brandi and Gabe Sirmans of Valdosta, Brantley Ganas and Breanna Ganas of Valdosta; and his dog Dixie.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Tommy Bussey will officiate. Burial will follow at Ousley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at
