Hoke Smith Lawrence, Jr.

Hoke S. Lawrence, Jr. 74, of Jennings, died on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Smith Northview following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 8, 1935 in Pavo, Georgia to the late Hoke S. Lawrence, Sr. and Cindy Touchton Lawrence. He was a retired corrections officer having worked for the state for over 25 years. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children; a son, Stephen Lawrence of Adel, and Mike Lawrence of Valdosta, a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ut Tran of Jennings, Florida, and a son, Brian Lawrence of Valdosta; his mother, Cindy Lawrence of Sparks; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry G. and Judy Lawrence of Lennox; 2 nephews and other family members.

Services for Hoke S. Lawrence, Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Evergreen Baptist Church in Dixie, Georgia with Dr. Henry Cannington officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
