Henrietta Evelyn McCracken, 87, of Lake Park, died on Monday, May 22, 2017 at her residence following a short illness. She was born on September 12, 1929 in Port Au Prince, Haiti to the late Otto and Charlotte Arnous Polland. Mrs. McCracken had worked with several establishments in the Valdosta/Lake Park area over the years including Ma Groover's Pig and Plate, Barb's Café, and the Book Warehouse just to name a few. She was a charter member of the Loch Laurel Baptist Church and is currently a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She served the community at large through her involvement with both churches by delivering meals to the elderly, serving in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School as well as other areas where there was a need that needed to be met. She loved her Lord, and her family was her life.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Debbie and Steve Gwyn of Plantation, Florida, Barbara Bush of Lake Park, Patricia and Rodney Moore of Sharpsburg, Georgia, Bruce and Charlene McCracken of Valdosta, and Michael and Shelby McCracken of Ocala, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Jaqueline Donovan of Tappan, New York. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Gara, Betty Kazinski, and Mary VanDaley.
Services for Henrietta Evelyn McCracken will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Rev. Lance Wade and Rev. Bruce McCracken officiating. The burial will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
