Hazel Marie Strappel Williams, a kindhearted and generous soul, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love. A native of Eufaula, Alabama, Marie’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to helping others and her deep devotion to family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Long of Valdosta, GA; father, Irvin Schaeffer of Pottstown, PA; beloved husband, Walter Robert Strappel, Jr. of Maui, HI; sister, Teresa Kokel of Valdosta, GA; brother, Darren Long of Valdosta, GA; and great-granddaughter, Kodee Marie Ehinger of Great Falls, MT.
Marie was a devoted community servant, having served as Chairman of the Tift County March of Dimes and volunteered with the American Red Cross. Whether she was organizing food deliveries, comforting those in need, or lending a listening ear, Marie lived her life as a beacon of selflessness.
Her passions included traveling, planning memorable family events, and indulging in beach trips and mani/pedis with her grandchildren. Time spent with loved ones was what she cherished most.
Marie is survived by her loving family: husband, Royce L. Williams; children, Marina Frazier of Lake Park, Cathy (William) Davis of Lake Park, Lisa (Terry) Lambert of Hahira, Barbara Strappel Fender of Lake Park; stepson, Robert Paul Strappel (Laura) of Chipley, FL, stepdaughter, Elizabeth Strappel of Panama City, FL, her sister and best friend, Madolyn Hoff; brother, Donald (Rhonda) Richardson; and her grandchildren, Logan (Elaina) Frazier, Kayla Frazier, Zach Lambert, Ashley (Kyle) Ehinger, Kellsie (Kristian) Ruane, Jessica (James) Devane, Julie Davis, William Davis, Megan (Kaleb) Marks, Robbie Fender, Gage Fender, Chris Strappel and Colby Strappel. Each of them carries a piece of her enduring spirit and grace.
Services for Marie will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Church of God (Swilley Hill) with Rev. Andy Pearson officiating.
Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire.
