Harvey Warren Powell, Jr., 92, of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 17, 1934, in Valdosta to the late Harvey Warren Powell, Sr. and Tommie Lucille Ward Powell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1954 to 1958. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of VFW Post #7777 and a member at Crossroads Baptist Church. Mr. Powell retired from Crackin' Good Bakery after 42 years of service.

Mr. Powell is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Melba Jean Cone Powell of Valdosta; his daughter, Krystal Lynn Hiers of Thomasville; his daughter and son-in-law, Tamara Susan and Paul Carter of Naylor; his son, H. Payton Powell of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Emily Hiers, Jared Hiers, Lindsey Hiers, and Thomas Goodin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Diana Dent (Julian), Hettie Busby, Clinton Powell (Betty), and Hollis Powell; and by his son-in-law, Tony Goodin.

A funeral service for Mr. Powell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. John Page officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
