Harold D. “Danny” Strickland, age 87, of Barney, Ga, passed away May 29, 2026 at his home. He was born in Pavo to the late George Strickland and Lovie Register on May 22, 1939 and raised by his aunt and uncle, Mary & George Mercer. After serving courageously in the Air Force, he started his construction business, S & J Acoustics with his brother in law, Richard Jordan. He not only passed down the trade, but also the art of tinkering to his son, his grandsons, and his great grandsons.
A man of small stature, cowboy hats, and the softest flannel shirts, Danny Strickland was a person of great strength and great Faith. He will be remembered for his love for adventure and travel, his love for family, and was a dedicated member of his church, Barney United Methodist. Our hearts will be filled with memories of underbrush clearing adventures, delicate garden tending, diligently maintaining tractors, and so much more.
Danny is survived by his son Keevan (& Jeana) Strickland of Valdosta, the mother of his son, Mary Alice Strickland of Valdosta, grandchildren Heath Strickland of Morven, Zach (& Peyton) Strickland of Powder Springs, Kady (& Kyle) Gleason of Valdosta, and LaRae Seemann of Valdosta, great-grandchildren Aedyn Strickland, Braxton Gleason, Mercer Strickland, Stetson Strickland, Walton Strickland, Harper Gleason and Sawyer Strickland. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Martha Ann Strickland of 24 years, and his uncle and aunt George and Mary Mercer.
The funeral for Danny will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. A private family burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev. Stan Folsom will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday morning from 10 am until service time. Condolences may be conveyed to the family on the obituary page of www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home
