Greg L. Simpson, 63, of Morven, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 28,2025. Born in Washington, D.C., his parents were Norman Simpson and Dorothy Hall. Greg grew up in a military family and moved frequently during his childhood, and in 1972, they settled in Montgomery, Alabama.
In 1986, Greg moved to Jacksonville, Florida to work as a grocery wholesaler specialist. Later, he settled in Morven, Georgia, to be close to his beloved grandmother, with whom he shared a special bond. It was in Valdosta, at the Thunderbowl Speedway, that Greg met his wife Sandra.
Greg’s passion for cars, motorcycles, dirt tracks, and all things speed and racing defined much of his life. He enjoyed collecting and restoring vintage motorcycles, an interest he shared deeply with his son Bryson. Above all else, the one thing that truly defined Greg-where he shone the brightest-was being a father to Bryson, his only child and greatest joy.
A devoted Alabama football fan, Greg also loved hunting and fishing. At the time of his passing, he was a supervisor at Sanderson Farms, where he cherished his work family and they cherished him in return for his personable nature and lasting impact.
Greg is survived by his wife, Sandra, his son, Bryson Simpson of Morven, GA, four sisters, Nancy and her husband Stillwell Hunt of Birmingham, AL, Angela and her husband Cary Hajek of Colorado, Jeanne and her husband Jon Easterling of Alabama and Christy and her husband Antonio Evans of Montgomery, AL. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Simpson and Dorothy Hall, his grandmother, Doris Hall of Morven, and his niece, Haley Hajek.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 10 a.m. at Mt. Zion Campground Methodist Church, Morven, Georgia. All condolences may also be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Simpson family.
Greg’s warmth and enthusiasm for life touched everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
