Shaw
Apr 11, 1945 — Sep 18, 2026
Ray City, Georgia
Gordon Leon Shaw, 81, of Ray City, Georgia, died on Friday, September 18, 2026 at home surrounded by his wife, children, and best buddy, Doo-Boy. He was born in Fitzgerald, GA, on April 11, 1945 to the late Walter L. Shaw and Mary Ganelle (Minix) Shaw.
At a young age, Gordon took over his father’s tent making business after his passing, and made gospel tents until he retired. He had many talents and interests including riding his motorcycle and flying, in particular he loved taking family with him, and flew a Piper Cherokee Six. He also loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, and he and his wife Tenya loved to go fishing together, often at Murphy Creek. Gordon was also an accomplished pianist and organist, giving lessons and playing at the Forest St. Church of God and the Lake Park Church of God. He was very faithful, and rarely missed a service until his health prevented him from attending.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Tenya Rogers Shaw of Ray City, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Candy Shaw of Hahira, GA; daughter, Emily Shaw White of Ray City, GA; grandchildren, Savana (Dustin) Adams, Court Shaw, Caleb White, and Gabe White; great-grandchild, Corsa Adams; brother, Steve Shaw of Pinetta, FL; sister, Sandra Shaw of Valdosta; daughter-in-law, Barbara Shaw Jarriel; dog, Doo-Boy; as well as many nieces and nephews, and family and friends. He was preceded by his parents; son, Nathan Eli Shaw; and grandson, Brannon Chance Shaw.
