Gladys Drye Braswell

Gladys Drye Braswell, 88, of Valdosta died on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. She was born on September 26, 1920 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Roy and Agnes Carriker Drye and had been a resident of Valdosta since 1960. She worked in retail sales with Renee's for many years as well as being a homemaker. Mrs. Braswell was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband, William Thomas Braswell, Jr. of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Thomas III and Karen Braswell of Locust Grove, GA and Richard Wayne Braswell of Lake Park, GA; a grandson and his wife, Richard Jr. and Barbara Braswell of Roanoke, Alabama; two granddaughters and their husbands, Holly Elizabeth and Billy Comer and Victoria and Brett Wasmund all of Orlando, FL; four great-grandchildren; and her youngest brother, Clifford Drye of Ocean Pine, Maryland.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009 in the mausoleum chapel of the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Thomas Mason, Jr. officiating. The internment/burial of cremains will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
