George M. Fiveash, Jr., 82, of Adel, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Fellowship Home Brookside. He was born in Hahira to the late George McNeal Fiveash, Sr. and Gladys Barfield Fiveash.
George grew up in Hahira and graduated from Hahira High School. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam as a helicopter gunner. After returning home, he attended classes at Valdosta State College before beginning his career with GTE in the telephone office in Hahira. He dedicated more than 30 years to the company before retiring from Windstream.
While in high school, George met the love of his life, Myrna King. They began dating and were married on August 25, 1966, sharing nearly 60 wonderful years together. George was known for his strong work ethic, often rising early to tend the family farm and care for his cattle. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle and loved spending time on the open road. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 218.
George is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Myrna King Fiveash of Adel; his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffry and Paula Fiveash of Adel, and Greg and Michelle Fiveash of Adel; his grandchildren, Austin (Taylor) Fiveash of Valdosta, Victoria (Trip) Norman of Lincolnton, Georgia, Kaedyn Fiveash of Adel, and Hailey Whitmore; his great-grandchildren, Parker Fiveash and Carter Fiveash, both of Valdosta; his sisters, Laurie Hughes of Valdosta and Janie Hemby of Adel; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Linda Fiveash of Hahira; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Fiveash.
A funeral service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, in the chapel of Martin McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Adel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Adel Wesleyan Choir or to the Alzheimer's Association at Alzheimer's Association .
