Geneva Parker Swain, 91, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Fellowship at Brookside. She was born in Thomas County Georgia on October 11, 1932, to the late Clayton and Lela Kearse Parker. Mrs. Swain received her bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State and was a retired educator having taught 5th grade at Parker Mathis for over 25 years. She was an avid reader and an active member of the former West End Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Sue Swain of Havana, Florida; a brother-in-law, Mike West of Valdosta; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Kim and Kevin Cowart of Valdosta, Julie and Aaron Browning of Jacksonville, Florida, April Swain of New York City, New York, Daniel and Tonya Tyson of Savannah, Beth and Ricky Vickers of Dixie, Tambra Logan of Mineral Bluff, Georgia, Clay and Cindy Parker of Valdosta and Pam Horton also of Valdosta. She was preceded by her husband, Alton Daniel Swain, and her sisters, Eloise Blanton, Shirley West, and Bobbie Ann McDonald, and her brother Troy Alburn Parker.
Services for Geneva Parker Swain will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. John Akers officiating. The burial will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
