Garey Steven "Doc" Bennett, 68, of Naylor, died at his home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, following a short illness. Gary was born in Homerville, on November 13, 1957, as the son of the late Marvin and Nancy Bass Bennett. Garey honorably served his country with the United States Navy. In 1985 he graduated as an EMT Medic. He then received his master’s degree and was a Registered Nurse at South Georgia Medical Center for 32 years. Garey was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Fraternity. His passion was motorcycles.  

Survivors are his niece, Nikki (Derek) Nowell of Naylor, nephews, Tilman Bennett of Naylor, Jason Dykes, Joey (Dana) Dykes both of Jacksonville, Florida, great nephews, Kamron Whitfield, Jayden Odom both of Naylor, Julian Dykes of Jacksonville, Clarence Garner of Lake Park, great nieces, McKenzie Seprish and Madison Seprish; sister in law, Patricia Bennett of Naylor and special friends, Billy and Vena Poole of Jacksonville.

Garey was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gerald Bennett and a great nephew, Logun Nowell.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Bennett Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. www.mclanecares.com
