Frederick Harold Stowell Jr.

Frederick Harold Stowell, Jr., 76, died at his home in Valdosta on Sunday, October 28, 2007, after a brief illness. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Frederick H., Sr. and Victoria Ruth Boyle Stowell. Mr. Stowell had been retired for ten years. He was a Catholic and a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Chambers Stowell of Valdosta; son and daughter- in- law, Norman and Cindy Stowell, daughter and son- in- law, Cathy and Chad Merrell, June and Todd Poettey, daughter, Lucy Stowell, son and daughter- in- law, Frederick and Sally Stowell, sons, Dennis Stowell, Frank Stowell all of Illinois, son, Michael E. Blanton of Valdosta, daughters, Kathy Butts of Valdosta, Martha Stringer of Crawfordville, Florida, Pam Brannen of Lake Park, Alice Pierce of Valdosta; nineteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Stowell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007, at the graveside at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia.
