Faye Tindall Nitschke, 88, of Valdosta, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026, at Langdale Place. Born in Valdosta on November 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late David Henry Tindall and Edith Grace Walker Tindall.

Mrs. Nitschke retired from the Valdosta City School System after 30 years of service as a bookkeeper. She was a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church and faithfully served for many years in the preschool and nursery ministries at both Northside Baptist Church and Lee Street Baptist Church. She was also active in the Valdosta Touchdown Club and dedicated many years as a Girl Scout leader in the community.

Mrs. Nitschke is survived by her daughters, Tammy Leff, and Derrith McQuaig and husband Doug, both of Valdosta; her son, John Nitschke, Jr. and wife Traci; her grandchildren, Sarah Leff, Taylor and Brooke McQuaig, Spencer and McKenzi McQuaig, Claire McQuaig, Maeley and Daniel Register, and Mary Kathryn and Atanas Kushlev; and her great-grandchildren, Greyson McQuaig, Mills McQuaig, and Waylon McQuaig. She is also survived by her sister, Merrie Wilkerson, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Nitschke, Sr., and her brother, David Henry Tindall.

A funeral service for Mrs. Nitschke will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the River Pavilion at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family requests that guests wear Mrs. Nitschke’s beloved black and gold attire or vibrant colors for this celebration of life.
