Evelyn Sewell Ricketts

January 1, 1921 — February 2, 2008

Evelyn Sewell Ricketts, 87, of Valdosta died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a lengthy illness. She was born in Lockhart, Alabama on January 1, 1921 to the late D. R. and Luanna Rogers Sewell and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Ricketts was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She graduated from Valdosta State College and was a retired school teacher having taught in Fargo, Homerville and Valdosta City School System. Mrs. Ricketts was a long standing member of the American Association of University Women and the Withlacoochee Quilters Guild.

Survivors include her husband, Otis G. Ricketts of Valdosta, two sons and daughters in law, Allan and Nell Ricketts of Valdosta, Ron and Letitia Ricketts of Atlanta, three grandsons and their wives, Christopher and Brooke Ricketts of Ellaville, David Ricketts of Valdosta and Bill and Jennifer Ricketts of Ft. Lewis, Washington, great grandson, Christopher Larkin Ricketts of Ellaville.

Graveside services will be held at 10am, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Thomas Mason, Jr. officiating.
