Eugene Aldan Pierce, a native of Valdosta, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Hospital. He was born at Little Griffin Hospital to the late John Wright and Margaret Alva (Tomlinson) Pierce.
Eugene was a proud Valdosta High School alum (Go Cats!) and continued his education at OCS and VSU. At the remarkable age of 17, he joined the Army National Guard, showing his early dedication to service.
Eugene's adventurous spirit led him to explore the world and take risks. He had a love for travel and was a true patriot. He was not only skilled in woodworking but also built his own beloved home. Nature held a special place in his heart; he found solace by the river and was a true "Swamp Coon" at heart. He was big on family and celebrated with them every chance he got. Many nights you could find him around his fire visiting with his family, friends, and loved ones.
His legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Georgiana, of Mayday, GA, and their children: son Tommy of Byron, GA; daughters Kelly Hritz (Richard) of Valdosta, and Robin Wood (Bryan) of St. Augustine, FL. Eugene leaves behind five cherished grandchildren – Josh, Leah, Emily, Taylor, and Blayne – and is survived by great-grandchildren Caden, Finley, and Lyla. He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 am.
Carson McLane Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
