Ethel Whatley Flowers, 85 of Valdosta and formally of Moultrie died July 28. She was born on December 13, 1940 in Donaldsonville to the late Delber Whatley and Ruby Whatley Fitzgerald. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was an accountant, business owner and homemaker and a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sue Flowers Howell, siblings Sue Harrison, Cliff Whatley, Lucy Striplin (Sammy), special granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Cordaro, a special grandson who was the apple of her eye, Raiford Gauge Nash, special step-grandchildren, Ricky Howell (Michele), Michael Peedy Howell (Lisa), Angie Howell Williams (Jerry), Michelle Howell Anderson(Donny), adopted granddaughter, Jessica McDaniels Davis, walking partners, Reba Solomon and Marilyn Singletary also known as “The Golden Girls” and many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raiford Jack Flowers, Sr., son-in-law, Walter Lamar Howell, son Raiford Jack Flowers, Jr. and brother, Leon Whatley.
A private interment will be held at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens, 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 with Chaplain David Cummings officiating. Memorials may be made to Covenant Baptist Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
