Esther Swearingen, age 85, of Cecil, Georgia, passed away at home on Friday, August 15, 2025. She was born on October 30, 1939, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Charles Leon Saltz and Mary Magdalene Lewallen.
For the past 50 years, Esther shared a beautiful life with her devoted partner, Alton King. Together they created countless memories filled with laughter, love, and family.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Bonnie Buchanan of Ohio, and Martha Crawford of Texas, as well as her five children Charles Bair (Wanda) of Massillon, Ohio; Katherine VanRensselaer (the late Steve) of Savannah, Georgia; Valerie Kinnack of Cecil, Georgia; Jay Bair (Laura) of The Villages, Florida; and Shelly Ward of Valdosta, Georgia; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary; two sons, Darrell M. Bair, and Lester Brian "Butchie" Bair; and her sister, Carol Christine Odea.
Family was Esther's heart. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always making each one feel special and loved.
She was a woman of incredible spirit - strong-willed, determined and always on the go. Esther never let life slow her down. A woman full of live and determination Esther loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She especially treasured her role as "Gi Gi" to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a deep love for bluegrass music and could often be found at festivals, smiling, tapping her feet, and soaking in the sounds she cherished. She also had a passion for travel, always ready for the next adventure. Her presence filled every room with warmth and energy, and those who knew her will never forget her vibrant spirit.
Esther was loved by so many, and her light will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
The Family has opted to do a "Celebration of life" at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers make a donation to a charity of your choice.
