Emory & Sylvia Warrick

Emory Lawrence Warrick and Sylvia Anne Saunders Warrick, ages, 88 and 80, respectively, have passed away. Sylvia's departure from this life was on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, with Emory departing on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
Emory Warrick, son of Lawrence Edward Warrick and Ruth Gray Warrick, was born on July 29, 1928 in Montgomery, AL. He graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy and attended Millsaps College, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Georgia, achieving several graduate degrees. He was a WWII Veteran as well as a Korean War Veteran, a professor, a lay reader, a family counselor, a band and chorus director, a charter member of Alpha Phi Omega and a civil defense volunteer. Emory was active within the community with the Red Cross, the Battered Women's Shelter (the Haven), Christ Episcopal Church and a member of the Southern Artist League.
Sylvia Warrick, daughter of Donald Ellsworth Saunders and Anna Elizabeth Williams Saunders, was born on September 9, 1936 in Vicksburg, MS. She was a graduate of Carr Central High School and attended the University of Mississippi. Sylvia went on to become a primary school teacher and a radio show host. She retired from the State of Georgia after 34.5 years of service. Sylvia was also very active within the community as a volunteer EMT, a sign language instructor, with Christ Episcopal Church, and a member of the Southern Artist League.
Sylvia and Emory were preceded in death by their youngest daughter, Elizabeth Grey Warrick. They are survived by their brothers; Roy Givens (Nayoka) of Quitman, MS and Donald Saunders (Kay) of Gautier, MS; their children, Anne Tait (John), Julienne Jackson (Ralph), and Emory Warrick (Summer), all of Valdosta; 13 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Emory and Sylvia will be held on Friday, December 23, at 10:00 a.m. This celebration will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 1521 North Patterson St., directly in front of Valdosta State University. All family, friends, and acquaintances are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the Warrick family has requested memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
Emory and Sylvia were married on December 23, 1954 and their celebration will mark their 63rd anniversary. Their ashes will be blended and interned in the Christ Church memorial garden.
As they were joined in life so shall they be joined in life everlasting. Rest in peace our loving parents.
