Ellen
Seth
Mar 12, 1959 — Jul 4, 2026
Ellen Seth, 67, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her siblings and her son in her final moments.
Born on March 12, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas, Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late Brian W. Seth and Karol Mulligan. For 42 years, Ellen faithfully served at the Moody Air Force Base Child Development Center as an Automation Clerk. While much of her work took place behind the scenes, her dedication helped support the daily mission of caring for the children of the men and women serving our country. She was deeply proud to spend her career serving military families through her unwavering commitment, reliability, and quiet professionalism. Her coworkers became an extension of her family, and throughout her illness they surrounded her with friendship, compassion, and steadfast support.
Ellen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid reader, she inherited her lifelong love of books from her father, Brian. Reading was more than a pastime—it was one of her greatest passions. Through books she found comfort, adventure, knowledge, and peace, and there was rarely a time when she wasn’t enjoying a good story.
Above all else, Ellen loved her family. She was immensely proud of her son, Jason. She found happiness in her family as it continued to grow.
In the final months of her life, Ellen’s health declined much more rapidly than anyone expected. The family finds comfort in knowing she is now free from any pain, heartache, suffering, and worry. They take peace in believing she has been reunited with her parents and loved ones who have gone before her, watching over the family she loved.
Ellen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jessica Darrow of Stafford, Virginia; her grandchildren, Dylan Perry, Logan Darrow, and Nina Darrow; her siblings, Walter and Regina Seth, Danny Seth, and Kathleen and Jay Kelly; her nieces and nephews, Shannon and Michael Moniz, Kyle Seth, Meghan and Isaac Womack, and Erin Kelly; as well as several beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ellen will be remembered for her quiet strength, kind heart, unwavering love for her family, and a lifetime of faithful service. She never sought attention or the spotlight, preferring instead a simple life centered on the people she loved, the work she cared deeply about, and the books that brought her joy.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
The family asks that those wishing to honor Ellen’s memory do so by spending time with loved ones, reading a favorite book, or performing a quiet act of kindness for someone in need. These simple gestures reflect the way Ellen lived her life.
